Mike Huckabee Hates on Beyoncé and The Obamas, and Hearts Ted Nugent
In an interview with People magazine, Huckabee said: "I don't understand how on one hand they can be such doting parents and so careful about the intake of everything - how much broccoli they eat and where they go to school ... and yet they don't see anything that might not be suitable [in the lyrics and a Beyoncé choreography] best left for the privacy of her bedroom." The Huckster is not letting the singer's husband, Jay-Z off the hook either. He writes that the hip hop star/multimillionaire mega mogul is "arguably crossing the line from husband to pimp by exploiting his wife as a sex object." Huckabee's high horse must have bucked a bit when, as People For the American Way's Right Wing Watch pointed out, he performed "a sexually explicit song alongside conservative rock star Ted Nugent on his Fox News program," an episode which, he acknowledged, drew some of his highest ratings. Huckabee has described Nugent as "an outspoken rocker, a political commentator, a patriot, and a friend." Bloomberg News pointed out that "Huckabee saw fit to sit in on bass with Nugent as the Motor City Madman performed one of his biggest hits, `Cat Scratch Fever,' a song whose lyrics might also be described as less optimal for young brains. BuzzFeed's Andrew Kaczynski called the song "sexually charged." Here's some of the lyrics to "Cat Scratch Fever" and the video of Huckabee playing the bass guitar (http://www.buzzfeed.com/andrewkaczynski/mike-huckabee-performed-a -sexually-explicit-song-with-ted-nu?utm_term=4ldqpia#.haXEWA8o9) during Nugent's appearance on his show:
"Well, the first time that I got it I was just ten years old People For the American Way's Right Wing Watch recently pointed out that Beyoncé has become a preferred target "among Religious Right commentators." In fact, "only Madonna has attracted greater wrath from the pundits" RWW follows. Earlier this month, Huckabee got the Crown of Reagan placed on his head by CBN News' David Brody. In a column titled "The `Reaganesque' Mike Huckabee," Brody wrote: "Can Mike Huckabee win the GOP presidential nomination in 2016? To quote Sarah Palin: `You betcha.'" He then went on to call Huckabee "Reaganesque." According to Brody, Huckabee "has a folksy charm and a humor that can diffuse a situation and make people comfortable even if you don't like his policies. He's hard to hate and that's not easy to do as a politician." Not all conservative commentators are as unblushingly glowing in their praise of Huckabee. Answering a call from a listener who wanted to know why Glenn Beck vehemently disliked Huckabee, Beck called Huckabee "one of the most disingenuous men I have ever, ever met." Beck went on to say that Huckabee "is Jeb Bush, hiding behind the cross," and that "He is a liar to your face. ... [and] a very disingenuous man." Over the past weekend, Huckabee kicked off a 43 city (in 14 states) book tour Destiny Worship Center in Destin, Fla. The book tour will include three stops in Iowa - the home of the Iowa caucuses - and a possible appearance at "the Iowa Freedom Summit, a forum hosted by Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) and drawing many prospective candidates," The Washington Post reported. Huckabee will be peddling God, Guns, Grits and Gravy in "churches and bookstores over the next three weeks." The Washington Post's Philip Rucker pointed out that Huckabee "has been reaching out to potential campaign donors," and intends to follow-up the book tour with a trip to Israel, "a stop on the travel itineraries of many a presidential aspirant." n a kind of all-you-need-to-know-about-Huckabee's-new-book primer, David Lawler of the Washington bureau of England's Telegraph newspaper, has compiled "some of the more colorful passages" on such subjects as guns, popular culture, on the Obama administration and Eric Holder, on social issues and contemporary politics. It used to be that Mike Huckabee was seen as one of those few Religious right guys who was a little bit cuddly, a little bit rock' n roll, and with a sense of humor; a kinder and gentler Christian conservative, one who might be able to build bridges, not blow them up. These days, Huckabee has increasingly become a scold, and just another wannabe hustler of culture war memes.
