"Rev" Terry Jones went through with Koran burning.

After (properly) backing down, Jones and his sycophants went ahead with their Koran burning last month.  I just found out about it in the local news.
I find it odd and disgusting that this didn't hit the news around here (I think I would have seen it) and that this is the first I've heard about it - but overseas the Muslims heard about it and people are rioting.

The jackass doesn't realize that this makes things worse for peace and U.S. soldiers and citizens overseas.  Or, maybe he DOES realize it and is trying to start a war between the U.S. and the "Islamic world"... which I know is one of the dominionist goals (one that is so horrible and wrong that it is stomach-turning).  In any case, everyone said that publicly burning the Koran would be harmful, and it's started, and our servicepeople overseas are going to pay the price.  Whether or not Terry knew, this reinforces the aggressive, violent, BULLYING stereotype that a lot of Muslims seem to have of Christians, and it's going to make things harder for the real Christians who actually read and try to follow Jesus' teachings.

The jackass claims to follow Christ Jesus, but one of Jesus' names/titles is The Prince of Peace, and this sort of thing goes totally against that (appropriate) designation.

These people (dominionists and many of the fundamentalists) more and more seem to be anti-Christians, in that they violate just about everything that the One they claim to follow taught and did.

I was just struck with a thought - in today's news there was also discussion on how fundamentalist Muslims are gaining power in their countries (specifically Egypt), and how they're emphasizing Sharia law and express similar hostility towards Christians as we hear from the fundamentalist/dominionist types here.  The similarities are striking.  The non-fundamentalists of all religions need to get together and work together to stop the real problem: fundamentalism and that which makes life tough so that people are attracted to that form of thinking, that is, the exploitation of people by the rich/elites.

One Mazar episode involved invading a UN compound and hunting down everyone in it.

It would be nice to think that the press did not cover the original incident because they are starting to understand that outrageous behavior by the likes of Jones and Phelps should not be rewarded with publicity ~ it only encourages more outrageous behavior.

One thing I've learned is that the press may tell the truth, but often there is an ulterior motive in how they report things and what they report, and that motive is not good for the "common person" (exception, some of the more liberal sources like NPR).

I doubt that it was that sort of restraint, but if it was, I would be pleasantly surprised.
