Video Mocking Gaza Flotilla Produced by Senior Fellow of Center for Security Policy
The video was produced by Latma. Glick states on her website, "Latma is the initiative of the Center for Security Policy's Middle East media project that I run in my capacity as the CSP's senior fellow for Middle Eastern Affairs." In addition to the Center for Security Policy and Caroline Glick's own website, the musical satire video can also currently be accessed at John Hagee's Christians United for Israel under "Headlines for the Middle East and Israel" on the introductory page. After clicking on that link, Latma's YouTube video can be accessed in the left column of the page. Jewish writer Leon Wieseltier titled his New Republic article, Operation We Make the World Hate Us and this video is yet another example of the tone deafness of Israel and some of her most vocal supporters. As Wieseltier wrote,
"Israel does not need enemies: it has itself. Or more precisely: it has its government." Additionally Israel has, in recent years, become defined by its trumpet section of right wing supporters who appear quite anxious to fulfill the horrific prophecies one can find in the pages of John Hagee's books - an end times fantasy in which the rest of the world (including Turkey) turns on Israel. It is clear in Hagee's books and sermons why he has this death wish for the modern state of Israel. It is less clear why Jewish supporters of Israel would share this desire to self-destruct. Hagee’s commentary in The Prophecy Study Bible about the Tribulation period, which he teaches is imminent, "Israel will face staggering losses in war.... At the midway point of the Tribulation, Israel will be attacked by:Compilations of quotes from John Hagee can be accessed at Hagee vs. Hagee - In His Own Words and Hagee in His Own Words - Part Two. Also see Bruce Wilson's Talk2action article on the Latma video. He was equally appalled and has additional information on Caroline Glick. Robert Mackey also posted an article on this topic this afternoon at the New York Times. J Street, an organization that is “pro-Israel and pro-peace” has posted a list of articles on the Gaza Flotilla that represent a more nuanced assessment (than that of Caroline Glick and Latma) of Israel’s current situation at http://jstreet.org/page/gaza-flotilla.
