Following are quotes by Silvoso and other NAR apostles on the meaning of Transformation.
Gubernatorial candidate James "Duke" Aiona's ties to Transformation Hawaii and International Transformation Network (ITN) have brought attention to ITN founder and NAR Apostle, Edgardo Silvoso, a pioneer in what is called strategic level spiritual warfare for the purpose of "transforming" cities. Silvoso introduced these concepts at workshops at Lausanne II in Manila in 1989, an international gathering of evangelicals, where he claimed to have had dramatic success in areas of Argentina that were Roman Catholic (not counted as evangelized). This radical new ideology spawned "Transformation" entities which teach that crime, poverty, and other societal ills can only be addressed by taking control of society and government under the leadership of the movement's apostles.
(Silvoso is an apostle and prophet in the New Apostolic Reformation, the charismatic movement in which the Transformation entities belong. Other NAR apostles include Cindy Jacobs, Jay Swallow, Lou Engle, and C. Peter Wagner.)

Previously, I posted an article with an extensive list of links to documentation about Transformation Hawaii and ITN, including the involvement of Duke Aiona. For those questioning the role of ITN in Uganda, please see another previous article which includes bios and links to "Transforming Uganda." In this article I have pulled a few quotes from both Silvoso's own books and media, and that of other apostles, in order to show what they mean by "transforming cities and nations."

Silvoso wrote a response to an article in the Hawaii publication Civil Beat citing commendations that Harvest Evangelism (his personal ministry) and ITN have received from Hawaii state senators and legislators. In the letter Silvoso portrays the organizations as charitable entities fighting religious bigotry. Some of the following quotes are from the same sources quoted in Silvoso's letter to Civil Beat, but will reveal a very different picture of Silvoso's intentions.

Quotes From The Same Books Silvoso Cited In His Letter to Civil Beat

From Transformation: Change the Marketplace and You Change the World by Ed Silvoso (2007)

"Now we are going for entire nations - in fact, for all the nations in the world." (Kindle version, location 2748 -51)

"As soon as the now ex-gay man came up from the waters [baptism], he was struck by the power of God, evicting the demonic forces that had controlled him for so long and rewiring his psyche correctly to enable him to feel like a man again." (Kindle version, location 2079 -82)

"...the Babylonian systems intentionally prefer to push a futile non-God approach that benefits no one but the manufacturers of condoms, as a Ugandan leader confided to me."

[Silvoso describes the world in terms of Christianity vs. the Babylonian system and describes Satan as a merchant with expertise in trade.]

"The need to guard the Garden arose because Satan had inserted trade into a system that meant to operate on grace." (Kindle version, location 2351-52)

The discipling of nations is our primary task on Earth... To disciple someone means to turn that person into a follower of the teachings you espouse...

The Romans "discipled" nations by conquering and imposing on them Pax Romana. Lenin and his followers "discipled" Russia and the Soviet Union by molding in a regimented and all-encompassing way the lives of millions with Communist philosophy. Mao did the same in China, the largest nation on earth. Militant Muslims actively take over nations and disciple them a la Ayatollah Khomeini; and even though they do not use the term "disciple", they are making entire populations into followers -disciples- of Mohammad."

The Church needs to cease being a spectator and play as if it is convinced it can will win.  The first step is to realize that we are called and empowered to disciple nations and will succeed if we try.   (Kindle version, location 433 -438)

[Note that ITN claims to also be "discipling" 14,000 churches in Uganda. See bios and links to "Transforming Uganda." Also in 2009, Duke Aiona told attendees at the ITN conference, "We're one body of Christ, we're one church and we're all here to disciple the nations, here in Hawaii and everywhere else."]

From Prayer Evangelism by Ed Silvoso (2000)
[In his letter to Civil Beat, Silvoso quoted this book as a testimony for his loving treatment of gay Argentinians.]

"As soon as we had obtained all the permits and published the event, the Argentine Coalition of Gays and Lesbians announced that they would stage a protest march in the same place on the same day.

When I asked the Lord why He allowed this to happen - given the extreme potential for mishaps, violence, even hijacking of our meeting by gays - the Lord said, "You planned a meeting to pray for sinners.  I am sending the best specimens."

...I led everybody in a corporate prayer for the gays.  It was a prayer evangelist's dream come true.  A multitude of industrial-strength, duly certified sinners were walking through our public prayer meeting."

Resistencia, Argentina as a Prototype for Spiritual Warfare

Resistencia Argentina was the original spiritual warfare project which became the model for later work by Silvoso, Cindy Jacobs, and C. Peter Wagner.

Apostles and Prophets, by C. Peter Wagner

"It was only a very short time afterward that Ed Silvoso of Harvest Evangelism in Argentina had a meeting with me and we agreed to launch annual Harvest Evangelism International Institute in Argentina.  Silvoso and I also agreed to run a large-scale experiment in strategic-level spiritual warfare in the city of Resistencia (in northern Argentina).  This set in place one of my major courses for the decade of the 1990s, putting me in the front lines of field-based, evangelism-oriented prayer and spiritual warfare for many years."

Possessing the Gates of the Enemy: A Training Manual for Militant Intercession, by Cindy Jacobs (1994)

"As I have also learned from Ed Silvoso, strongholds against unity must be broken down in the minds of the pastors and believers in order to capture a city... Just as it took all the tribes of Israel to conquer the Promised Land of Canaan, it takes all of the parts of the Body of Christ to inherit our promised land in the city."

"A rather dramatic account of the effects of tearing down a stronghold over a city through intercession and spiritual warfare occurred in the city of Mar del Plata, Argentina, in September 1990 when Generals of Intercession met with a group of intercessors in that city.  We discerned four major ruling, territorial spirits over the city with a strongman, or demon ruler, who reigned over them all... Right at four o'clock we noted the time as the cathedral bells chimed and we went of praying against witchcraft.

Later on, after out time of prayer, one of the local pastors received a phone call asking what we had been doing at four o'clock.  It seems that there was a Macumba witch who had been joining the witches to pray against the pastors of the city for two years, and right at four o'clock she dropped dead....

While we were not happy that the woman had died, we were acutely aware that God was sending a clear message of judgement upon witchcraft.

[The "transformation" of Resistencia included the burning of items considered to be demonic, including statues, Catholic saints, books of Mormon, amulets, freemasonry items, and more.  See Bruce Wilson's related article.]

Deliver Us From Evil, by Cindy Jacobs (2001)

It is not unusual for tourists to bring home keepsakes from faraway lands that have demonic attachments or are idols.  What we often do not realize is that these objects can curse us.  For instance, may people purchase African masks that have been used in worship ceremonies.  Others buy native art such as Kachina dolls, statutes of Hindu gods and statues of Budha.  Back home, havoc starts to reign in the form of sickness, tragedy, depression or marriage break-ups - usually the person does not know why these things have happened.  Other people bring home seemingly innocent items, but, as I wrote in the last chapter, they can have spiritual attachments and may need to be discarded or destroyed."

[Jacobs describes the burning of objects in a drum in Resistencia.]

"As the occult objects burned, some of the people actually screamed and cried out in anguish as demons manifested themselves...

I think church leaders today should consider having similar book burnings.  Pastor Jim Marocco did this when he planted a church on the island of Maui. He had people bring and burn occult items, specifically objects that were worshiped as part of their native religions. After the objects were destroyed, his church experienced great growth.

Spiritual Mapping in the United States and Argentina, 1989 -2005: A Geography of Fear, by Rene Holvast (2009)

The book is based on the doctoral dissertation of Rene Holvast, a Dutch missionary, and is an excellent academic source on the phenomenon of spiritual mapping and the New Apostolic Reformation.  The following excerpt describes the beginning of the spiritual mapping phenomenon that was the impetus for Silvoso's later "Transformation" enterprises.

"In March 1984 a conference took place in San Nicolas at the Cosecha retreat centre.  The conference "noticed" that 109 villages and towns in a hundred-mile radius around the city had no Evangelical church.  Silvoso's research showed him what he perceived to be a powerful warlock residing in the town of Arroyo Seco and called Merigildo.   Silvoso and the conference concluded that the warlock had supernatural power over the territory, so Silvoso directed the pastors in warfare prayer and "took dominion in the name of Jesus" and "took" the territory from the warlock.  Thus the territorial power of the demons was broken."
-page 55

"Argentina served as a `prototype for nation transformation' and Silvoso sought to develop `reproducible models' to be used all over the world.  Although not considered as the only factor, Silvoso claimed in 1994 that Spiritual Mapping was the central issue of the events in Argentina:

[quoting Silvoso] The challenging and binding of these territorial powers is at the heart of what is going on in Argentina today... The pattern is the same: territorial powers are identified, then challenged, and eventually defeated as thousands of captives turn from the dominion of Satan to God."
page 60 -61

Loving Your City into the Kingdom, editors Ted Haggard and Jack Hayford (1997)
Silvoso's contribution described Resistencia project:

"Peter and Doris Wagner and Cindy Jacobs taught scores of leaders and pastors about intercession and spiritual warfare. Hundreds of intercessors were recruited, equipped, and deployed throughout the city to secure and expand God's `beachhead' there.

Satan's perimeter was infiltrated by 635 neighborhood prayer cells (called "lighthouses") scattered throughout the city...  Satan's perimeter began to be shaken when the pastors and their most trusted intercessors proclaimed the lordship of Christ by serving an eviction notice on the city's satanic principality San La Muerte, which means "Saint Death."  Pastors and leaders suffered all kinds of attacks.  However, God was in control and He showed it.  At the height of the conflict, San Muerte's high priestess died in strange circumstances:  The mattress she was sleeping on caught fire and burned her to death.

...On the opening night of the citywide crusade, we discovered that the local witches and warlocks had occupied the corner of the field.  Satan had launched an all-out counterattack.  We positioned our top intercessors under the platform along with a ring of 70 others around the podium.  Approximately 100 more mixed in the crowd."

Transforming Hawaii

From Cindy Jacobs' Generals of Intercession Newsletter:

"The Lord gave me a word in 1992 that Hawaii would become the first Christian state.  I asked the Lord, "What is happening?" He replied, "I am getting ready to sweep the face of the earth with my glory as the waters cover the sea."  (see Hab 2:14)   Hawaii was ready with a prayer army and early warning devices and so was not damaged with this natural tsunami, but the glory of the Lord will remain."
From Ed Silvoso's Harvest Evangelism Website:

On December 2, 2004, the Transformation Hawai'i core team, along with Harvest Evangelism Sr. Vice President Dave Thompson, met with 23 key leaders from around the entire state and took ownership of the vision of Transformation Hawai'i. The dream to equip and commission 10,000 Christians as "marketplace ministers" was birthed.

On December 8, the Canopy of Prayer became a reality. "Light up Hawai'i," as it was called, would anchor the canopy with simultaneous prayer gatherings on each of the state's forty-two high school campuses.  ...On December 8 and 9, 2004, a new Hawai'i was born. In every public high school, nine private high schools, ten elementary and intermediate schools, and three university campuses, nearly 6,000 believers from over a hundred churches gathered together for the expressed purpose of praying for Hawai'i and her people.

Led by our Lt. Governor, "Duke" Aiona, we humbled ourselves and confessed our sins. We sought God's face and His hand of healing over our people and islands and schools. We especially lifted our hearts for our keiki (children). In many places it was the young who led the old. We walked the land with petitions, supplications and repentance. We cried out to God for our leaders. And we declared with our Lt. Governor that "our campuses will be God's campuses, our communities will be God's communities, and our state will become God's state!"

The strategy that Transformation Hawai'i has adopted is to use the vehicle of prayer evangelism-taking the presence and the power of God into every sphere of influence at the personal, corporate and marketplace levels through prayer for the felt needs-to impact twelve "Gates" or key entry points to the islands:

  • Arts/Performance
  • Business/Professionals
  • Churches

  • Education

  • Government/Political
  • Hawaiian Community/Culture

  • Homes/Communities

  • Labor/Unions

  • Media/Communications

  • Military

  • Non-profit

  • Youth

From Business.Life, a magazine published by  Christian Business Ministries Canada, and subtitled,  "Peace of Mind Through Prayer and Profit."

"On April 10, Ed Silvoso launched the 2005 World Missions Conference held annually at The Peoples Church, Toronto, ON."
-page 4

"Lt. Governor Duke Aiona issued a proclamation dedicating Hawaii to the Lord Jesus Christ. This is a manifestation of the emerging transformation in the Hawaiian marketplace. Never before has such a high official publicly and without reservations turned an entire state over to Jesus!

On February 23-26, 2005, Harvest Evangelism hosted an international summit in Honolulu for both market- place and pulpit ministers to examine the latest nation transformation intelligence, especially in the context of the Hawaiian model, with the goal of developing new corps of nation Transformation Network to cast the vision for the total transformation of Hawaii, as well as the nations represented. This event was a staging event to gather momentum for May 19-21, during which time up to 10,000 Hawaiian leaders participated in a training seminar. The seminar climaxed with a commissioning service to send out thousands of marketplace ministers to take the presence and power of God all over Hawaii.

What is happening in Hawaii, like so many other city and nation transformation models, has a direct link to Argentina as the source of inspiration and impartation for many of those who are leading the charge. It validates once again the consistent pattern that the more we invest in the transformation prototype in Argentina, the more Argentina produces for the transformation of other nations. As you can see, the staging points are set, the troop movements are being coordinated and now the final and most critical step lays before us: the acquisition of the material needed to lead the charge globally in 2005.

Ed Silovos and Hawaii principal Susan Mulcahy speaking at the International Transformation Network convention in Argentina on October 6, 2008, compare those who object to their agendas to rats to be destroyed:

Ed Silvoso:
Transformation Hawaii came on the radar with United in Prayer... There is one point that is coming loud clear.  If indeed this is the Kingdom age and not the organized local church age, then we are between seasons.  [Silvoso is referring to the progression of the end times which the apostles teach requires a united church and eradication of denominations.]

...The point is this.  There was a captain of a 747, and right after taking off they found out that they had rats hiding in the crevices where the wirings are. That's a very dangerous thing. As the oxygen level began to go down, the rats got more active.  So there was a big debate in the cockpit - do we go back to the airport, and that's the order they gave the captain.  And the captain said, No, way Jose,  I'm going to reach the cruising altitude, because when I do, the rats will die, because there's no oxygen left where the rats are.

And I submit to you that God will have to give you discernment when to go back to the airport and when to press forward and reach altitude for those rats to die.  Because we are in between times, and the church as we know it today will not be the church in five years.  We will have church all over the city, we will have church all over the place, and then what we call pastors will become apostles."

Susan Mulcahey:
"When you step out in the education system and you begin to do something, the rats start acting up."
[At the time of the convention, Mulcahy was a Hawaii principal "transforming" her school and was encountering resistance and complaints.]

Ed Silvoso:
"Look how the Lord is underlining the right principles.  When the rats began to act up, you just pull on that thing and fly higher.  Don't return to the airport.

From a PowerPoint presentation by Ed Silvoso for E Pule Kakou titled "My Zip Code, God's Zip Code." [As seen in a later quote, Silvoso's Transformation network is organizing by political precincts in states including California.]

"Register your church for E Pule Kakou at www.epulekakou.org and register a zip code."

"Pastor, accept God's call for you to help pastor your whole city and zip code."

At the 2009 ITN conference in Hawaii, Apostle Pat Francis was a keynote speaker and finished her address leading a prayer ceremony with Ed Silvoso to evict demons and curses from Hawaii and rule the state. Participants seen in this warfare prayer ceremony included U.S. Senate candidate Cam Cavasso:

"And God is raising up a new generation that says yes, we want salvation and yes, we’re going to go to heaven, but right now this is our territory and we’re here to rule.

...We break generational curses, we break generational curses, we break generational curses, and we plead the blood of Jesus over every altar of demon, over every altar of ancestral spirit, over every altar of false religion, and in Jesus name we declare that you are the King of Hawaii, you are the Lord of Hawaii. We dispossess the gods of Hawaii, and we lift up the one and true God, Jesus Christ.

And we are charged, standing guard, and we put our foot on Hawaii. And you said every place we put our foot, we will rule.  So we are the Kingdom, the Kingdom is here.

Charity as a Vehicle for Taking Dominion

Ed Silvoso speaking at Convergence 2010, March 4 -6, Dallas, hosted by Cindy Jacobs

"You can have church in the marketplace and bring the gates of Hades down.  But then I say, 'Lord, how can I have favor with the people' - very simple, do favors to people.

And that's why we have our conference in Hawaii this year... This is something that Cindy, Peter, and Mike [Cindy and Mike Jacobs and C. Peter Wagner] helped me launch in Argentina.  A lot of what we are doing worldwide is happening because of that institute that we launched in Argentina.  Peter was the dean and the grand poobah of that.  Well, this year you are going to come to Hawaii to a state where the heavens are wide open.  It doesn't matter if the Democrat or the Republican candidate wins the governorship.  Either one is already in the Kingdom.  You are coming to a state where every school has been prayer walked, every teacher adopted, every student been interceded for...

...We need to have favor with the people and when we have favor with the people, now the Lord is able to add daily to the church those that were to be saved.

That's why in California this year we are launching a canopy of prayer. It's already launched.  It's going to be anchored in every political precinct, that's 35,000 political precincts.  We anticipate to have each precinct occupied by Christians that will do Luke 10 - they will bless the lost, fellowship with them, minister to them... Then 40 days before the election, we are launching an Isaiah 58  fast.  Clothing the naked, feeding the hungry, giving roof to the homeless, taking care.  We will obtain favor with the people!  And when you have favor with the people, I'm praying for God to give us one million souls saved by the end of the year - by combining prayer with social action.

We are facing the Babylonian system.... Every time you read about Washington, every time you read about Wall Street, every time you read about the European Union, every time you read about high finance, every time you smell the Illuminati.  These are the four things that are there, control, fear, greed, and so forth.   So the Babylonian system depends on control, demon power, pride, and also revenge.  That's the system that we need to bring down.  So, how do we do that.  Well, we need to realize that they are run on greed, fear, and life sucking.   They do not believe they can make anything. So they say we are going to just distribute what we have.

We are going to get there and bring the Kingdom of God, and take over.  It's not enough to give fish to people, it's not enough to teach them to fish.  We need to own the pond.  We need to show them how to buy the pond.  We need to show them because the whole creation is eagerly awaiting the manifestation of the children of God.

Cindy Jacobs at a conference in Indonesia in 2008:

We have what we call the Seven Mountains mandate.

...I'm commissioning you to become super wealthy.  If you own the businesses of your country you control what goes on in your country.

You know what's going to happen.  One day in our countries there not going to say, `Those Jews, you know they're so wealthy.'  There going to say, `Oh you know those Christians, everything they do turns to gold, right?'

I mean, Look at that. They funded this university. Their name is on that hospital.  I have a dream. In the city of Dallas, one day there's going to be a group  of entrepeneurs that work together.  We're going to go the hospital and say,  What's the most expensive piece of equipment you need and buy it.    We're going to go to they symphony and say how much does it cost for a whole year of your programs and were going to pay for it.  We're going to go to the poorest schools and say what is your greatest need, probably computers or whatever, and we're going to do it.   Until every single sector of society is funded by us, and we become the head and not the tail.

...Listen the tail gets dragged around.  Aren't you tired of being dragged around.

Demonizing Roman Catholicism and Other Religions

[I have written previous articles about the spiritual warfare against what Silvoso, Jacobs, and Wagner call a demon named the Queen of Heaven.  They claim that veneration of Mary in the Catholic church is actually worship of a powerful demonic deity and prevents Roman Catholics from being evangelized.  The apostles go on spiritual warfare excursions around and claim that their spiritual warfare efforts result in damage to Catholic icons and structures.]

Cindy Jacobs wrote the following about her spiritual warfare in San Nicholas:

" A couple of months ago while I was writing this book, I was asked by Harvest Evangelism to go to the city of San Nicholas, Argentina.  Harvest Evangelism is headed by Ed Silvoso, one of the foremost authorities on the subject of reaching entire cities for God.

... A stronghold of the Queen of Heaven was present in the city.  This demonic spirit that counterfeits as Mary had appeared there and told the locals she wanted a grand cathedral built.  People came from all over the world to worship her there."

This account from Cindy Jacob's Voice of God can be read at Catholic Reason.

From Warfare Prayer, by C. Peter Wagner (1992)
"In the city of Santiago del Estero, a local priest decided to oppose the [evangelistic] crusade by invading the area with a religious procession.  When they arrived, the four strong men carrying the statue of the priest's favorite virgin all fell tot he ground under the power of the Spirit and the statue shattered into a thousand pieces.  Two of the men spent the night in the hospital and the other two in [evangelist Carlos] Annacondia's deliverance tent!

This is warfare prayer in action.

Another leading apostle is Chuck Pierce who has also gone on excursions to battle the "Queen of Heaven."  The following is taken from Pierce's Glory of Zion website concerning a trip made by leading apostles to Santiago de Compostela during the pilgrimage event.
The Queen of Heaven is the spiritual force controlled by the Prince of the Power of the Air that motivates Jezebel in the earth realm.  In other words, the Queen is the spiritual force.  A Jezebel type is a physical force or person doing the Queen's bidding to bring havoc, to seduce and to control the governments in the earth.  Every time there is a great spiritual advance of the Kingdom of God in the earth in one of the nations where we have met and praised and prayed, we know that we have gained a new level of authority in the earth realm over this structure that would stop God's government from advancing.

I am so excited about Santiago de Compostela.  I see this from a prophetic standpoint.  Millions of people from multiple countries make pilgrimages to Santiago believing that James will intercede for them and that their sins will be forgiven.   James supposedly "appeared" here after his death.  The Queen of Heaven is using this false worship of James to hold many in darkness.

Continued in another report:

As you may recall from our prior trips, the priests swing the largest incense burner in the world from one side of the cathedral to the other.  However, our guide told us that seven days earlier the rope that suspends the immense incense burner began to fray and they had to stop presenting their daily incense offerings for fear of the rope totally severing.

Since it was the height of the pilgrimage season, the cathedral was pressing to have it back by that weekend. But the fabrication of the new rope was not complete. We knew this was a sign from the Lord that the incense offering to the Queen of Heaven had been halted, and that He had sovereignly opened the way for a true offering of worship to Jesus Christ.

This WAS an incredible sign.

Ed Silvoso on evangelicals in Latin America:

"Of all the nations in Latin America with a sizable born-again population, Guatemala is at the very top.  It is estimated that between 47 percent and 52 percent of the people are evangelicals - and when born-again Catholics are added to the numbers, the percentage can easily reach 75 percent. That means that three out of four Guatemalans are saved."-Transformations (Kindle version, location 701-703)

Transformation as the Brand Name of NAR Campaigns for Dominion:

The Church in the Workplace: How God’s People Can Transform Society, by C. Peter Wagner (2006)

“One event that did help to move social issues to the front and center of our agenda, particularly among evangelicals who were tuned in to the charismatic movement, was the publication in 1990 of John Dawson’s best-selling book Taking Our Cities for God. The concept of taking a city was a tremendous innovation.

After Dawson wrote his book, the literature expanded rapidly. He was joined by other authors such as Ed Silvoso, George Otis, Jr., Ted Haggard, Jack Hayford, Frank Damazio, Alistair Petrie and others. ... Those who were involved experimented with a variety of terms such as ‘taking cities,’ ‘reaching cities,’ ‘prayer evangelism,’ ‘reaching a nation,’ ‘reformation,’ ‘community transformation,’ ‘revival,’ and ‘reconstruction.’ By 2000, however, the most generally accepted term became ‘social transformation.’” -page 37 -38

Sphere of Authority, by C. Peter Wagner (2002)

“During the decade of the 1990s virtually every major city in America launched a city transformation project of one kind or another. ... A quality library emerged with authors such as Francis Frangipane and Ed Silvoso and George Otis, Jr. and Jack Dennison and Jack Hayford and Ted Haggard and Frank Damazio and many others joining in to help point the way.”

[Wagner continues, explaining why transformation has yet to be successful. He states that territorial apostles are required to be the “gatekeepers” or authorities over transformation. The movement teaches that denominations will cease to exist and the church will unify under the leadership of the movement’s apostles.]

“Biblically, 1 Corinthians 12:28 shows that the true spiritual gatekeepers of the city are apostles, not pastors (or teachers). Territorial apostles are the ones who most likely will provide the persevering leadership that is required for city transformation.” -page 108

Dominion! How Kingdom Action Can Change the World, by C. Peter Wagner (2008) [In Dominion!, Wagner explains that theocracy is not required for the New Apostolic Reformation to bring about “dominion.” He claims this can be done without imposing a theocracy.]
In a word, we are now in the Second Apostolic Age. We have been here, to the best of my calculation, since 2001.”
-page 22

“Social transformation is the battle cry for the Second Apostolic Age.”
-page 37

Under the heading “Social Transformation:”

“I would like to argue that social transformation, along with its derivatives, might be the most useful term. Some have used other terms like city taking, city reaching, transforming culture, renewal, restoration, or redeeming the city. Each of these terms has a merit, but I feel they tend to scatter us instead of bringing unified focus. With heavyweights like George Otis, Jr. (the Transformation series of videos), Luis Bush (“Transform World”) and Alistair Petrie (Transformed!) using it, the term social transformation seems to be gaining acceptance.

...It seems to me that if we allow halfhearted, anecdotal measurements of transformation based largely on unprofessional enthusiasm, we put ourselves in danger of watering down the true message of the Kingdom of God, which is for us to take dominion.”
-page 54-55

Silvoso on the transformation of Adrogue suburb of Buenos Aires,
"The reason is that the churches operate 24/7 all over the marketplace.  Each block has a shepherd assigned to pray for and minister to every resident.  Every business and school campus has been adopted in prayer.  Key government officials have someone interceding for them.  The church has taken control of the marketplace and, by extension, of the city itself." -Transformation (Kindle version, 699-701)

Silvoso's account of  Sentul City, Indonesia:
We poured oil in the shape of a cross and, with a shofar blowing over and over again, a procession of pulpit and marketplace ministers planted a stake in the ground with the inscription Sentul City - God's City, symbolizing a land claim for the Kingdom of heaven on Earth. -Transformation (2169-71)
