Short Takes: Sarah Palin Edition
Religion Dispatches: Kathryn Joyce profiles Palin -- as McCain's mad pander to the Religious Right continues to unfold.
Gay City News: The accumulating evidence about Palin, pushed by innumerable blog posts as well as the major media, has created a gnawing fear that she would radically change America if she became president. Her view is that the US is a Christian nation dominated by believers interpreting God's will and asking their fellow Americans to open their hearts to His message. Whether or not others are swayed, Palin argues that public policy should be guided by that will.
State of Belief: Palin's "theocratic rhetoric."
Wall of Separation: Rob Boston writes: Who is to say when we are "right with God"? Some fundamentalists are certain that non-Christians, liberal Christians, agnostics and so on can never be "right with God." They have the right to believe that, but when government officials imply that they have the power to apply such a standard, it's time to get nervous.
Daily Kos: Rush Limbaugh and the RNC apparently take their cues from Frank Pavone regarding making an issue of Sarah Palin's Downs Dyndrome baby. And not all evangelicals are wowed by Palin. (Especially Doug Phillips, who is a Constitution Party partisan anyhoo.)
