A New Birthday Gift For Jesus

We are honored welcome Dr. William F. Harrison, a distinguished physician from Fayetteville, Arkansas as a guest front pager. Dr. Harrison saw first-hand the terrible personal and social consquences of illegal abortions during his days as a medical student and resident prior to Roe vs. Wade. He has since then, continued to live his commitment to provide high quality medical care including abortion care: death threats and violence not withstanding. -- FC

This AP headline appeared in at least a few newspapers the morning after Christmas -- and was given a two sentence recognition on CNN.

Albuquerque authorities investigate fires at abortion clinics
Associated Press - December 25, 2007 8:45 PM ET

For many of us, it brought back memories of events in Pensacola, FL on Christmas Eve, 1984 when 2 abortion clinics and one ObGyn office in that city were firebombed by 2 young men and their girlfriends, who called those bombings "a birthday gift for baby Jesus."  I am sure Heysus was grateful for his gift. Just as He must be pleased by GWB's modern day "crusades" against the infidels in Afghanistan and Iraq.

After all, He isn't called "the Prince of Peace" for nothing.

According to the AP, authorities in Albuquerque, think these fires, and also one that occurred at Dr Curtis Boyd's clinic, Abortion Acceptance of Albuquerque, might be suspicious.

Wow!  How difficult is that to accept!!?  Two fires at two PP Clinics early Christmas morning following another fire at an abortion facility 3 weeks earlier?  Now who would believe those might be the work of arsonists?

According to the AP, fire and police authorities are looking for evidence that these fires might have been the work of arsonists.

;Although federal investigators are involved in the search for the terrorists who bombed Dr. Boyd's office a few weeks ago, there is no mention of whether federal investigators are involved in the obvious acts of religious terrorists of the Christian variety.

No arrests have been made in that bombing.

Even with federal investigators involved from the gitgo, these events are often not solved unless someone confesses and someone squeals.  Or, in cases when we are very, very lucky, an eye witness sees and can remember an automobile tag.

In the late spring of 1985, my office was firebombed by a 14 yr old boy who had just seen The Silent Scream at a Baptist church event in my home town.  And now we have a short and extremely disturbing film out, called Hard Truth, that many of the fundamentalist churches with their fundamentalist preachers are showing to impressionable young people like the boy who firebombed my office.

Michael Griffin, who murdered Dr. David Gunn in Pensacola, FL in the first act of truly murderous violence, claimed to have been driven insane by the sermons he heard from his fundamentalist preacher and seeing the movie, Hard Truth at his church.

It makes me wonder just how long before another Michael Griffin is found to "commit murder for baby Jesus," like several have been inspired to do since Micky G. showed them the way, and so many politicians and preachers are covertly recommending it.

In my town, a year or so after the bombing of my office, the entire community began to respond very strongly to clinic violence and threats of violence.  And there has been little or no antiabortion activity since 1989.   But in many other localities, the violence toward abortion service providers and the women seeking their care has continued, unchallenged by the powers that be in those communities, and the violent language has continued.

Violence, weakly responded to by a community, only begets more violence in that community.  Will the next anti-abortion murder be in Albuquerque?
